I love reading books that will inspire me, after reading a couple of books on personal style, here are my current favorite ones:
Love, Style, Life
After launching garancedore.com almost a decade ago, the French illustrator turned blogger now author opens up her favorite topics in her first book, Love Style Life. From her childhood in Corsica, and finding her sense of style to career advice and love stories- Dore shares it all.
⁃ Harper’s Bazaar
Let me be a bit honest here, I did get the book mainly because I saw other bloggers talking about it, and the cover is gorgeous! I love seeing the successful stories of bloggers who work hard and are vulnerable about their journey. Love, Style, Life is such an inspiration about a girl who followed her passion and believed in herself.
Paris Street Style
French fashion writers Isabelle Thomas and Frédérique Veysset break down the je ne sais quoi” of Paris street style, describing the essential elements that should be in everyone’s wardrobe. Renowned experts on French styledesigners, stylists, editors, and celebritiesalso chime in to reveal their favorite accessories and how to create multidimensional looks and make affordable clothing appear luxurious.
I purchased Paris Street Style because I needed a good read during my flight to NY last year. Every stylish girl wants to know the Parisian way of life, including their fashion sense. I’ve learned the essentials are most important to invest in – shoes and purses, the rest are yours to shop and go crazy with.
Brooklyn Street Style
Brooklyn style is eclectic, creative, and distinct from neighborhood to neighborhood. It’s not about chasing labels. It is stylish on its own terms, and it’s about dressing for real life. Brooklyn Street Style: The No-Rules Guide to Fashion explores what has made the borough a global fashion mecca and presents style advice from a host of Brooklyn tastemakers.
⁃ Abraham’s Books
This book has a similar structure as Paris Street Style. One of the most exciting things about Brooklyn Street Style is that it offers an array of locations to eat, drink coffee, or spend time. I learned that no matter what style you have, you can make it yours.
Bobbi Brown’s 8th book—Everything Eyes—teaches readers everything they need to know about how to create standout eyes. Starting with the essential tools and basic techniques, Brown simplifies eye makeup and helps women identify what works best for their eye shape and color.
⁃ Bobbie Brown Cosmetics
I love make up and what I can do with it, so when I was gifted this book, I was so excited! Bobbie Brown offers a couple of looks, a tool guide, and even a how-to for the perfect glasses. From reading Everything Eyes, I discovered my favorite look will always be the cat eye. I added a book on make up because style is a head to toe process, it doesn’t matter whether you like to have little or no make up to having a make up department in your own room.
