Hi everyone!

Y’all, how or where do I even begin?? I’ve been wanting to give some recommendations on the best hair salons/people in Houston (along with some of my favorite styling tools too) for a very long time. So, after years, yeah like three, of trial and error, some crying, I finally have my go-to ladies. Check them out and fall in love with them just like I did!

Cut it

I usually just trim my hair and I only trust Brandi, from Do or Dye, to do it. She’s super patient and will not cut 5 inches when you hear “just an inch.” Haha. I did get it cut into the shortest bob ever for free! If you’re interested in that, contact me personally. The other place I recommend is the Aveda Institute, they are students, but if you want to get your hair cut on a whim and for an inexpensive price, then go here!

Dye it any way

Right now, I’m going to Marcela. She knows how to turn my Mexican hair roots into perfect hues. She also turns on Netflix and basically any show for you to watch haha. I told her that I wanted my hair blonder, and yea, she got it there in no time. She can do ombre, highlights, balayage, literally anything to do with dying your hair. I love her! Her appointments are available via Style Seat, which is linked on her name.

Perfect ombre

I love going to Brandi from Do or Dye. She did my first ombre ever and literally it was the most amazing thing that happened to me. I really want to deem her the ombre queen. She will also give you recommendations of the best products and treatment for your hair. If Brandi is booked, I recommend Lindsay. I have not gotten my hair done by her, but many of my friends have and they love her! Appointments are only taken through text, see website for more details.

Learn to style it

Do or Dye host classes to teach you how to style your hair. Yea, I didn’t really curl it with a curling iron until I took this class, trust me it really will help! Check out the Hair to Class to sign up for the next one!

Up do/Blow out

I was a model for Anthropologie Highland Village’s fashion show and Sunkissed and Madeup did my hair and make up, it was so cute!!! I loved it so much. I got to see a variety of styles from the team and they truly are talented.

Casual Holiday Party - Hey! Wendy Vanessa

Tips

  1. Wash your hair the least amount as possible, I do it like twice a week and use a lot of dry shampoo.
  2. Apply purple shampoo once a week before regular shampoo, that way you don’t have that weird smell remaining.
  3. You don’t really need to buy purple conditioner, the shampoo works just as effectively.
  4. Braid it overnight and curl 1/3 of your head to give yourself messy beach waves.

Well, I hope you learned a lot! It took me years to finally love the people who play with my hair, so this list is very valuable to me. I really recommend these ladies, trust me I will not lead you astray when it comes to hair. Let me know if you check them out!
